Great walk lovely hill forte stuped in history back to the bronze age great for sun set photography

Great views of the Hampshire countryside, accessible all year, even provision for wheelchair users, which is a nice touch. It's a quite popular place and the parking can fill up, especially in the summer, best when you get there early. Good for short walks around the hill and fort or as a starting point for longer walks. Get there at the right time of year and you will get to see masses of chalk hill blue butterflies, I've only ever managed to catch the spectacle once. If you fancy a meal and a pint stop at the nearby Shoe Inn in Exton, a lovely little pub right on the river, but again it can get very busy...

To explore Old Winchester Hill, you will need reasonable footwear and if you are visiting outside the summer months take some warm clothing as well as once you reach the summit of the hill it's pretty exposed and can be quite windy and cold, however the trip is worth it for the stunning views that can be obtained by standing on top of the hill. There are information boards scattered around and they will offer some history and facts to the area.

Stunning views on a clear day. Good access for all.It states allow 2 hours to do the walk, but we managed it in 1 hour. Parking is free, but you can make a contribution via a machine to help maintain the site. The road leading there is a single track, but there are plenty of passing places with good pubs in West Meon worth a visit after your walk.

Great place for a walk along the hill, taking in the fantastic views across the beautiful Hampshire countryside. We often walk along to the iron age hill fort, keeping an eye out for the kestrels, red kites and other birds. The car park is not huge and can get full at peak times.
