Totally excellent garage family run business
AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE and don't trust the other reviews!!! Despite having a decent MOT on my car... A few weeks ago, my husband's car broke down close to home and so we took it there. BIG MISTAKE!!! It started off bad from the get go. The customer service was appalling. Every day for 5 days we were promised a call back and every day we had to ring before they closed because no one called us back. We were first told the repairs would be around 2000-3000. Hideous, but it was a known gearbox fault and isn't cheap. Days later it jumped to between 5300 and 7000 (refurb vs new gearbox)!!! I called around and opinions were that this was excessive and nor would it take over 6 hours of labour to put in a new gearbox. Still, we juggled all of our options. Went up there to discuss and Mick (owner) showed us that a 2013 Nissan Qashqai as 'damaged' ranged in value from 1500-2000 and a working model is worth around 6000-7000. We said what we'd consider in a part exchange. They didn't have anything at the time, but claimed they had connections and might be able to find us a car. Day later, we noticed a Renault Megane (2011) with very low mileage. It was a base model, no sat nav and manual when we needed automatic, but we were kinda stuck so Mike (mechanic) said he would talk to Mick and 'work out some figures'. The car (and this is the important bit here) was on for 6995. So a day later I get some figures. They did not come down on the car at all AND what's more, they offered us in part exchange 1495!!! A flipping fiver below the LOWEST estimate of damaged value. I was smelling a rat at this point so went on auto trader that same day, found a Megane with BETTER specs (top range) and ever so slightly higher mileage for 2000 less than they were asking for theirs. And the real kicker?? We went on one of those 'we buy any car' sites that take cars as is and we had three quotes from three different ones (all with amazing ratings on Trust Pilot) and we got a top offer of 4000!!! So we got the AA to hike our car outta there and will never go to that garage again. EVER. And the sad thing? They would have made a FORTUNE if they were not so GREEDY or had horrendous customer service. We would have taken our cars to them for years to come and recommended them to others! So why did I decide to write this, you ask? I passed by yesterday and noticed that after I told them they were RIDICULOUS with their prices....low and behold, they dropped the Megane by 1000!!! And really? That is still too high. I've tried several times to post a pic of the car as it's being sold now and a screenshot of the email, but it's not working. What a great experience in this friendly little garage. Nothing was too much trouble despite their computer system going down. Will I return? You bet!
